It Can Be Shocking…

Patient story of a routine physical with unexpected news

When 57-year-old Pat Karg went in for a routine physical, she got some unexpected news about her heart. “It can be shocking for anyone to go in for a routine surgery and find out you need heart surgery,” says Rich Besser, MD, host of ABC News’ “Medical Moments”. In this segment, Dr. Besser tells how Ms. Karg learned she had mitral valve regurgitation, and how it was treated by Cleveland Clinic cardiac surgeon A. Marc Gillinov, MD.
