  • Andrea Vdkleut

*Why* does this recipe’s nutritional info clearly state that it has “zero protein”??? Something seems not quite right here. ???

    • winna222

I too, am wondering where the protein can be found in this recipe since it clearly lists “zero protein” in the nutritional info right below the recipe. ??? Something seems to be a bit “off” here. ???

  • Katie Short

If you use frozen bananas and grapes, you won’t have to water it down with the ice. You could also add some vanilla or plain yogurt to add protein – or powdered milk if the consistency is too thin.

    • Dave L

Chia seed add thicker consistency. Plenty of protein in the Kale and spinach leaves. Far more protein than we need actually. So no need for milk or dairy.Enjoy a healthy smoothie……

  • Maggie

Why do bananas have to be in everything called “healthy?” Can they be omitted from this recipe? Bananas upset my stomach.

    • Grann

Bananas balance the sugars, you can leave them out.
Cucumbers would be good to add as well as an apple or
no sugar added applesauce. Plain yogurt can also replace
      the banana.

Is it advisable for diabetic patient to take it. Plz response me soon

We drink veggies & fruits shakes everyday since my husband recup from heart attack! He needed more stents again but next check up he had, it didn’t show anymore any occlusions in his heart. Fruits and veggies reverses heart diseases!

  • Jennifer Burns-Ramser

My friend can’t eat the raw kale or spinach. Can she blanch them a little before making this?? Will it hurt the outcome of the drink?

Me puede poner la receta en español

    • Carolg

If that recipe was in espanol, most people could figure it out.

I typically do a green smoothie 5-6 days a week and have benefitted from the kale, spinach and getting in more fruit than I could just eating it. If you haven’t tired it, do yourself a favor and do it!!!

  • Maxine

Protein is in the spinach and kale and chia seeds and vitamins in every ingredient.

    • winna222

Maxine – Your comment about protein is quite odd. Especially if you read the nutritional information for this recipe (which is given *just below the recipe*). It clearly states that there is zero protein in it. ??? This leaves me wondering where you’re getting the info that this contains *protein*. ???

  • Lorraine Riegel-Kapalin

There are lots of vitamins and minerals in kale and spinach. Also protein. Cut back on the fruit if you don’t want as much sugar. Juicing is a great way to lose weight and get healthy. Have an open mind and a positive attitude!

      Thanks lorraine!! Dynamite!

  • Jacquelyn Mckee

It’s funny that so many people think you have to eat meat to get the protein. Protein can be found in so many other things, just look them up.

    • winna222

IF there is protein in this recipe please specify where it is coming from exactly. The nutritional info given below the recipe clearly shows zero protein in this recipe.

  • winna222

Can anyone please explain to me why the nutritional info for this recipe clearly states that it contains *zero protein* – and yet some comments here say that it DOES contain protein? Can’t have it both ways, so someone must be wrong here. Does anyone have a good answer for this? If you do, please provide links or other supporting documentation to prove your point. Thank you! I appreciate it.

    • Monique Jeffery

Protein is found in both kale and spinach. Go to your local market and take a look a the nutritional facts on the back. There’s about 4g of protein in a package.

  • Sally Bee

Thank you for posting the nutritional info and the serving size with this recipe. Being diabetic, it is sometimes hard to explain to others that smoothies can be a huge carb load, even if nutritious. And also can be hard for me to determine the carb content sometimes.

  • James Head III

Instead of water and ice, can you use almond milk and yogurt? The fruit will be frozen.

  • Hermbunta

Must consume this while naked and intoxicated to achieve best health benefits from this smoothie. Doctor Messermiester told me this the other day while we were in the bathroom outside his office. He also mentioned that you can not have used hemorrhoid cream or within 48 hours. Listen, he knows what he is talking about.
