Chronic pain in the abdomen may be caused by any number of factors. Often the cause is known and your primary care physician, gastroenterology or surgical team will treat the cause and subsequently the pain itself.
But there are times when the cause may not be clear — yet the pain is debilitating just the same. Patients with abdominal pain can then be referred to a pain management clinic for evaluation and treatment. This chat will focus on diagnostic and therapeutic treatment options for the management of chronic abdominal pain.
Questions for Dr. Vrooman during this webchat might include:
- What are common causes of chronic abdominal pain?
- Do over-the-counter medications help to ease abdominal pain?
- Will I have to take prescription drugs long term to deal with chronic abdominal pain?
- Can I relieve abdominal pain through natural methods?
Dr Bruce Vrooman is board-certified in pain management and anesthesiology. His specialty interests include abdominal and pelvic pain, back and neck pain, complex regional pain syndrome and management of chronic pain.
