Steamed, cooked, roasted or raw, broccoli is a tremendous source of essential vitamins and an easy find in most farmers’ markets.

Low in calories and rich in fiber, broccoli will help you feel full without overeating. One half-cup serving of broccoli clocks in at a meager 15 calories, while providing over 60 percent of your daily recommended dose of vitamin C and half of your recommended vitamin K intake. Turns out mom was right after all.

In this video, registered dietitian Laura Jeffers, MEd, RD, LD, explains why this reliable superfood is not to be missed during your rounds through the farmer’s market.
