However, don’t be disheartened if you have a problem or experience a side effect from a specific statin, says Michael Rocco, MD, Medical Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation and Stress Testing, Section of Preventive Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic. There’s a good possibility that an alternate statin may work better for you. Many cardiologists will try multiple statins before deeming the therapy a failure.
